I was thinking today....

why don't I dance more often?

or sing?
or give genuine smiles more freely?

i spent my day with a 17 month old little girl.
i put on some upbeat colombian music and she danced so freely.

any time she caught me smiling at her, she let out a screech of joy, smiling from ear to ear.

and a song was on her mouth all day.
it doesn't matter if there was no real melody or words.
she sang with joy.

i know. she's a toddler.
but i admire her freedom and joy.

it makes me think alot about why Jesus told us to be like children.
i guess i have never really taken this verse too seriously. maybe i heard it too often, without seeing anyone really live it out on my life.

but i'm thinking about it today.
the Lord adopted me into His family.
i am His child.
in these ways He wants me to live as His child.

dance. sing. laugh. smile. rejoice. twirl. run around. forgive easily. love freely.

i think about it this way::
if anyone in this world has a reason to be free in these ways, it's His children.
